What is a dermatology consultation?

A dermatology consultation is an opportunity to talk with your dermatologist about all your skin concerns and to have your skin evaluated so you can understand what you need to do to keep your skin healthy and to look and feel your best. It’s also a time to ask about at-home skin care routines and to learn about the steps you can take to prevent skin cancer and keep your skin in optimal health.

What should I expect during my visit?

When you first come to the office, you’ll need to fill out some forms that will provide an overview of your health. During the actual consultation, your skin will be carefully evaluated to determine what kinds of issues you’re experiencing. Next, you’ll learn about the treatment options that can help your skin be as healthy as possible. If you’re interested in cosmetic treatments, you’ll also learn about all your options and the complete treatment process so you’ll know what to expect. A consultation visit is intended to establish open communication between the patient and the doctor, so be sure to ask any questions or voice any concerns you may have.
